Dock Out Day

  • 11 Nov 2017
  • 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • GRRA Boathouse & River 291 North Park NE

We have had a lot of hard work put into maintaining and improving the boathouse and equipment this year and things have gone very well – thank you to everyone who has contributed!

As we look ahead, there is still a lot of work to do – here are the details about Dock-Out Day:

  • -        Dock-out – we will be taking the dock out, cleaning/repairing shells & doing general winterizing around the boathouse – please plan on being there and contributing!  There will be something for everyone to do – wear warm outdoor work clothes and bring your normal cheerful & helpful attitudes!  We’ll coordinate on the day-of and get as many of the tasks listed below done as we can and maybe even a few extras.
  • Pulling the dock out – get ready to do some heavy (& sometimes wet) team lifting/pulling.  Waterproof boots & gloves, and an extra pair of gloves is recommended – extra wrenches and drill & socket sets or waders are helpful too.  We also plan on having a fire for people to warm up around.
  • Shell work – we need to do thorough cleaning of the shell hulls (using our normal Simple Green cleaner & some nice clean, non-river water) and we’ll be going through and replacing or documenting any damaged parts like shoes and footstretcher tracks.
  • Organization – the work bench, upstairs and various corners of the boathouse need to be organized & tidied up – we’d also like to start labeling everything, so bring a pen & sharpie.
  • Launch motor workon Dock-Out and over the winter, the motors for the Coaches’ launches need periodic maintenance and we need more people that can do minor maintenance & troubleshooting (oil / spark plug / propeller changes, looking for signs of poor electrical connections / fluid leaks).
  • Please sign up on our Sign Up Genius and mark the date on your calendar.
