    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Competitors that have raced in multiple events were definitely feeling the burn on Friday, race day number two, at the 2014 USRowing Masters National Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich. The four-day event, hosted by Grand Rapids Rowing Association and the West Michigan Sports Commission, will see 199 national titles awarded before racing concludes on Sunday afternoon.

    Friday’s finals were followed by a very special occasion, as Detroit Boat Club Crew toasted to its 175th Anniversary with local craft beer on the banks of the Grand River.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thousands of people from across the country are in West Michigan for a national sports competition.

    The U.S. Rowing Masters National Championship is underway in Grand Rapids, bringing hundreds of competitors to the Grand River.

    It marks the largest regatta ever held in Michigan, and it will be right in Grand Rapids. Over the next four days, 1,400 boats will be racing in 200 events.

    Grand Rapids is expecting 5 thousand spectators, 1500 rowers, 1200 boats, and nearly 150 national rowing clubs from around the country this week. They are coming to GR to take part in the Masters National Championships on the Grand River. The tourists will spend about two million dollars during their visit.
