The Boys of '36

12 Jul 2016 2:20 PM | Julie Bennett (Administrator)

In the summer of 1936, nine working class young men from the University of Washington took the rowing world and the nation by a storm when they captured the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Berlin. Author Daniel James Brown wrote about this crew in his best-selling book "The Boys In The Boat", which is in production as a feature film. Join your rowing friends to view a special advance screening of an American Experience special (produced by PBS) about the crew. The screening will be at the Wealthy Theatre, 1130 Wealthy St SE, following rec rowing on Wednesday, July 20. Doors open at 8 and the film starts at 8:30! Free parking is available on the street and to the rear of the theatre. Suggested donation is $5 at the door. Tell your friends to come join us and support the club while learning about this very cool part of rowing history!
