The GRRA is hosting The Grand Regatta again this year. We are excited about this 2-day event. The Juniors will be racing on Saturday, June 24 with the Masters races taking place on Sunday, June 25. This event requires a lot of adult and junior volunteers and we have always been so fortunate to have great people stepping in to make this a premier event of the sprint season. Members, parents and juniors, click HERE to sign up for volunteer positions. There are trainings Monday and Tuesday night @ Riverside Park.

The boathouse is buzzing with activity! We had a great turnout for our first Learn To Row day on May 20. The weather was beautiful and lots of new rowers got the chance to find out why we love the sport so much! Our next LTR classes begin soon so be sure to sign up. Our Juniors ended a fantastic spring sprint season and the coaches are looking forward to a great summer camp schedule for experienced and new rowers. All 8th - 12th graders are encouraged to sign up. Our Masters competitive team kicked off its season and all adult rowers are looking forward to our summer sprint regattas.

We are excited to get on the water. Unfortunately, because of low registrations, we have had to cancel our LTR 101 and 102 classes for this spring. We are diligently working to set up another free LTR Day in May (possible date is May 20) so watch our site for more information. Our next class begins on Wednesday, May 31, so be sure to sign up! We are also working on offering a morning class on T/Th from June 13 - July 20 - with no class the week of the July 4th holiday. Please join our LTRow in GR Facebook page and visit this site for updated information.

We must regretfully cancel our first LTR Day of the rowing season. The water level is dangerously high, which makes it unsafe for rowers. The current is very strong and there is added debris in the river. Please stayed tuned, as we hope to fit another LTR Day in May. Our next scheduled LTR Day is Saturday, June 3. We would love to have you row with us on the river!

We are excited about the 2017 season and we are kicking it off with a community-wide Learn To Row Day on Saturday, April 15. Our mission is "Community wellness through rowing" and we take that seriously. We want to get our Grand Rapids community involved in a sport that we feel is one of the best. It combines exercise and teamwork with the bonus of spending time on a beautiful river. Come join us for a FREE day of rowing - we provide the coaching, the boats and the fun. Make sure you wear comfortable clothes (and athletic socks) and bring an open mind and sense of adventure. It's Open House style, so come anytime between 9am - 1pm. See you on the water!

Learn to master the erg in our 3-week classes. Jump start your erg skills before the spring rowing season or learn to master the erg at the gym. We will focus on proper erg technique, the slide, the catch, the drive and recovery, strength training, stroke rates and improving your “split time”. Two 3-week classes are offered in the morning or evening sessions. Register for any individual class or take both back-to-back to level-up your erg game.

Rowing on the ergometer is a great way to stay in shape, practice the rowing stroke, and keep at the top of your game during the winter months. “Erging" is also great for learning the rowing stroke before rowing on the water. Personalized instruction is provided in each session, which is good for beginners, intermediate or advanced rowers. No prior experience is required.

The Junior teams have been busy already this fall. Our Novice and Varsity have been practicing and our Beginner class just began with a record number of new rowers!

The Honey Crisp apple fundraiser was a huge success! Our parent boosters bagged over a ton of Honey Crisp apples! Well done, team.

Don't forget to sign up for the Blood Drive. The Grand Rapids Rowing Association has partnered with Michigan Blood to host a blood drive at the boathouse. Join us for this very important ‘GRRA Gives Back’ event on Saturday, October 1, from 9:30am-2:00pm. A mobile donation bus will be set up in the boathouse parking lot.

Please visit our event page to schedule your donation time.

The blood drive is open to all rowers (age 16 and older), coaches, families and friends as well as the public. Please spread the word!

Junior rowers who would like to donate, aged 16 years and older, should schedule their donation time after practice between noon - 2:00pm.

Michigan Blood provides 600 units (pints) of blood each day to area hospitals. Blood donations help burn victims, people suffering from trauma and shock, cancer treatment patients, maternity wards, people with blood disorders and organ transplant recipients, just to name a few. Please consider donating.

Their next regatta will be Saturday, October 8, in Lansing.
