March Madness March 1–31 (Individual Challenge)

The Details

Choose from two levels of participation:

The Basic Challenge: Row 5000 meters each day for 25+ days in March.
The Advanced Challenge: Row 10,000 meters each day for 25+ days in March.

This is an individual challenge... you do not need to belong to a team to participate. All you have to do is enter your meters online in your online logbook.

Incentives and Rewards

Prize drawings are held every day from all the people who have rowed at least 5000 meters that day and entered it in their online logbook. The more days you row 5000 meters, the more you increase your chances of winning! On randomly selected days during March, Concept2 will draw for an additional prize from those who rowi at least 10,000 meters. Prizes vary from day to day, but will include Concept2 clothing, heart rate monitors, Concept2 drinking glasses and some surprises! Drawings are held at (or soon after) noon each weekday for the previous day, so be sure to enter your meters promptly! We will post names of winners on the web site. Winners will be encouraged to send a photo and brief story to be posted as well.

Hall of Fame—All those who are on-track for rowing/skiing at least 5,000 meters at least 25 days during the month of March will be listed in the March Madness Progress Board and will be able to download a specially designed certificate.

World Rowing Challenge March 15 - April 15 (Team Challenge)

The Details

Each team rows as many meters as they can collectively between 12:00 a.m. March 15 and 11:59 p.m. April 15

This is a team challenge. Important: By April 1, you must indicate in your online logbook that you are actively participating in the current challenge. (See the Team Member page for more information.) This is different than affiliating yourself with the Grand Rapids Rowing Club (which you should also do!)

Detailed instructions for signing up for an online logbook, affiliating with the Grand Rapids Rowing Club, and signing up for the team are available here.

Meters rowed each week should be entered no later than midnight on Friday of that week. This works on the honor system. It makes it fair and fun for everyone if you can watch the progress of the teams that you are competing against.

Deadline for entering meters: Sunday, April 18, 2010 at midnight ET.

Incentives and Rewards

There will be prizes for the top ten individual men and women. There will also be prizes for an additional 10 men and 10 women by random draw from all those completing at least 100,000 meters during the challenge. The club with the greatest number of meters rowed will win their choice of a Model D or Model E Indoor Rower. The club with the greatest number of meters rowed per participant (minimum of five people per team to qualify for this prize) will win their choice of a Model D or Model E Indoor Rower. We will have two random draws for a Model D or Model E Indoor Rower from all participating clubs having at least five members on their team (US & Canada clubs only). Specially designed certificates of completion will also be available via download to all participants.

Let's win a rowing machine!

See you on the ergs... and good luck!
