Chelsea Shoop rowed for Grand Valley State University for three years where she has trained under several coaches including Dennis Kamrad and John Bancheri. She got to participate in many regattas as well as race against teams from across the country. Before coming to Grand Valley, she attended high school in Algonquin, Illinois after growing up in and around Phoenix, Arizona. She played softball for 11 years as well as trying other sports throughout the years.

She has coached adult Learn-to-Row classes for the Grand Rapids Rowing Association as recently as Summer 2012 and is the Head Coach of the Grand Rapids Junior Rowing program.

Chelsea lives in Allendale, Michigan, and is finishing up her degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education at Grand Valley State. She intends to teach locally in West Michigan after graduation, and hopes to be able to keep coaching throughout her years in the education field.
